One of the three finalists for the FIFA Puskás Award 2023 was the result of a rabona shot – a technique that Nuno Santos practices every day. The Portuguese is up against Brazilian Guilherme Madruga and Paraguayan Julio Enciso, and while he was keen to acknowledge the beauty of the goals scored by his competitors, he is dreaming of receiving the trophy in a ceremony that will be held in London on 15 January.
Speaking to FIFA, Nuno talked about the wonder goal against Boavista, about another one he scored two months later with a sublime lob against Pacos de Ferreira, revealed that he practises rabonas in training, gave his thoughts on the other two finalists, and told us about the reaction of fans and family members and his expectations as regards to winning the FIFA Puskás Award.
